We started ComfyLife because winter felt — well, a bit long, and often reduced only to cold and discomfort. People rarely pause to celebrate its quiet joys: soft winter sunlight, a cozy blanket draped over your lap, slow lazy afternoons, and a mug of warm tea in hand. The way light slants through bare branches. The smell of a kitchen that's been cooking all afternoon. That moment when you climb into a warm bed and let out a breath you didn't know you were holding.
Our focus is on winter comfort essentials — electric blankets, heating pads, heated mattress pads and beyond. These are the small things that make cold days feel warmer, and we've lived with them closely, season after season. We want to share our honest, hands-on experience with each one — how they feel in real life, what works, and what doesn't — so that we can help you find a little more warmth and comfort through the cold winter months.
How we test
We use every product we write about, for at least two weeks, in real life — at our desks, in our beds, on our couches. We don't take free products in exchange for coverage. If a company sends us something to try, we say thank you, we test it, and we write whatever we honestly think. If we don't like it, we don't recommend it. Simple as that.
We also read a lot. Product manuals, safety standards, consumer reports, warranty fine print. We're the kind of people who enjoy reading the manual — which means you don't have to.
Our approach
We believe the best writing about everyday things is personal writing. You won't find much jargon here, or many bold claims about "the best." What you will find is stories — from us, and sometimes from readers — about what it's actually like to live with something.
We'd rather tell you honestly what we liked and what we didn't, and let you decide if it's right for you, than pretend there's one perfect answer for everyone.
Affiliate disclosure
Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. That means if you click through and buy something, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you.
A few things we want you to know about how we handle this:
We only recommend what we use ourselves. If we haven't tried it, we won't link to it.
We don't chase the highest commission. We link to the product we actually bought, from the store we actually bought it from. If there's a cheaper option somewhere else, we'll tell you that too.
Our opinions come first. Affiliate programs don't decide what we write about, what we say, or what gets recommended. The writing comes first. The links come after, and only if we genuinely like the thing.
If you have questions about any of this, we're happy to talk about it. You can reach us at contact@comfylife.com.
Who's writing
ComfyLife is written by a small group of friends who all happen to run cold — a freelance writer in Portland, a teacher in Boston, a librarian in Minneapolis, and a software engineer in Seattle. We publish when we have something worth saying, not on a schedule. We'd rather post one good piece a month than four forgettable ones.
If you'd like to say hello, or share your own winter story. we'd love to hear from you.
Winter is long. The small things — a warm bed, a mug held in both hands, a blanket on your shoulders — they add up. That's the whole idea, really.
